The Department

This department believes that Physical Education is essential to the education of young people and encourages students to participate, enjoy their work and strive for improvement in all that they do regardless of ability.

The Teaching

Key Stage 3 - Units of work based on National Curriculum areas of study in games, gymnastics, athletics and swimming. Health and Fitness units also make up the overall scheme.
Key Stage 4 - The programmes in Years 10 and 11 enables students to develop and extend their skills across the activity areas and to undertake other roles when appropriate. Games, athletics activities and swimming are taught along with a unit of health related exercise. It also broadens their experiences by introducing other activities so that all students can achieve levels of success. They are expected to maintain high standards and are enabled to develop a self-determining approach to physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.
GCSE - PE to 16, Fountain and Gee is used as a text. Students select their four practical activities in line with PE, PE (Games) syllabus requirement.

The Resources

North Kesteven School is attached to the North Kesteven Centre and the P.E. department has sole use of their sports facilities during school hours.
