December Greetings

StudleadblogHello everyone! This term our main focus has been on recruiting new members from all year groups. We have meetings planned with all the Progress Managers and asked their advice on how to best recruit more members as well as ways in which we can assist them in their roles. Ideally we would like a boy and girl from every form across Years 7-11 to be involved; if you would like to come along to our weekly meetings, they are held in G17 on a Friday Lunchtime from 12:30.

AmeilaWe have been very much involved with the change of school uniform consultation and at lunch time on the 4th December held a debate under the Canopy where we invited other students to write their opinions on a ‘post it note’ and stick it under a relevant heading.  We will also be taking around the ballot boxes and voting slips to forms next week, as well as monitoring the vote counting process.

As we are approaching Christmas some of our team are participating in the North Hykeham Nativity on Hykeham Green on the 10th December, reading poems, stories and descriptive writing.  Some of the younger members of our team are also involved with the Christingle Service.

We have enjoyed all of the projects and tasks that have been given to us since September and we can’t wait to continue this into the New Year!

From all of the Student Leadership team, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

November-December 2014

StudleadblogWelcome back from your first well-earned break of this academic year.

During last term we developed a lot of new ideas regarding our school's Eco Garden. For one of our meetings, the Site Manager, Mr Gentry, came in and discussed any ideas and designs we had. We had some very positive feedback with ideas coming at us from left, right and centre! This means our Eco Garden project is well under way!

Also, we had a visit from Mr Sandbrook who presented us with 3 possible ideas for a school uniform change. Nothing is set in stone yet however, we are contemplating a possible change in our uniform within the next few years. If you have any opinions on this, or if you could help us in some way with our Eco Garden project then please contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. Kind regards
The Student Leadership Team.

September 2014

StudleadblogWe would like to start off by welcoming everyone back to a new academic year after the summer break! We have recently been recruiting new members but it is not too late to join us. Come to our weekly meetings in G18 on a Friday Lunchtime - we hope to see you there!

We have lots of projects to get involved with starting with our two Open Evenings. Students across the school are volunteering to help out in departments and to be tour guides and to provide a fantastic welcome to future students of our school.  The dates of these are Tuesday the 16th and Wednesday the 24th of September. To apply for this, collect a letter from your Personal Tutor or the General Office.

Also this year, we are going to make progress on our school eco-garden. We have lots of eager volunteers but, we will be opening it up to everyone, why don’t you come and help us! Shortly after the Christmas break, we will be looking to open it up and start work. We have been discussing ideas about possibly having a club on a weekend or after school. If you are interested in this, please come and see a StLT representative or Miss Mates for more information.

Kind Regards

The Student leadership team.

StudleadblogAs we enter the final week of this academic year, the Student Leadership Team would like to extend our thanks to all the people who have supported us and helped us with our various projects this year.   As a student team we have been able to develop a design for the Eco-Garden which we hope will be considered further in September, we have been fortunate to be able to assist with different fundraising events, such as the Sixth Form ‘Charities Week’, and we now have our own display board located in the History corridor which helps students keep up to date with our information and activities.

On the 18th and 19th June, the Student Leadership Team attended the Lincolnshire Show where we took part in the Schools’ Challenge.  Our challenge was to ‘advertise the show’ by critically analysing new ways of advertising with a low carbon footprint.   Although we did not win we had a wonderful day and were able to meet representatives from other schools and gather ideas to help us plan for next year!

We would like to wish all of the staff, students, parents and governors a pleasant and relaxing Summer and we look forward to seeing you all in September!

Kind Regards,

The Student Leadership Team
